Hector Garcia is the President of MBN Creative and has been in business for over 20 years. He was the first in his family to venture into starting his own company. Hector joined us to discuss the evolution of his firm to become a creative design partner for Fortune 100 companies as well as a wide range of mid-market and early stage companies.
1. Hire Unicorns.Talent is what is going to get your business noticed. Hiring people or unicorns that are exceptional at what they do or in other words, share the same passion as you when it comes to their work is what is going to make your company successful and standout against all other companies within the same industry.
2.When coming up with designs for clients you must always remember that it is never about what you as an individual like and don’t like. When marketing something to clients and coming up with designs, color schemes, etc., your individual preferences do not matter in that situation. You must always keep in mind that your designs are being made to fit someone else’s preferences and style, and ultimately you were hired to come up with a marketing design that will sell a product or service. So always keep in mind that your likes and dislikes do not matter in a situation when you are designing or pitching something for someone else.
3. Work hard and play hard. In the business setting you do not hear the word “break” very often. However, at MBN Creative, they believe that if you work hard and get everything done correctly and accurately then there is nothing wrong with taking a break and enjoying your life as you have it. Building relationships with your staff and respecting their lives outside of the office is a key component to having dedicated, loyal, and hard working employees that will go above and beyond for you and the overall mission of the company.
