ShashankShekharThis past week, I invited Shashank Shekhar, author of First Time Home Buying 101 and Real Estate Unleashed, to speak to our listeners about the perspective he has gained through his expertise in the field of real estate, as both an esteemed author, and CEO of Arcus Lending, Inc. Here are three valuable pieces of insight I gained while interviewing Shashank on the Critical Mass Radio Show:

1. Produce a product for a purpose, rather than a profit. During Shashank’s interview with Critical Mass, he shared that his motivation in writing his book was to truly educate readers on the home buying process, rather than simply make money off of his product. When the focus of an idea is to serve the needs of the consumer, the product has more value, and thus, attracts people to it.

2. Use social media to your advantage. In the age of new media and e­-commerce, the opportunities for expanding the reach of a company or product are practically endless. Differentiate yourself in the market by implementing unique e­-marketing strategies and initiatives, whether it be through creating a podcast series, starting a YouTube channel, or networking through social media outlets such as Twitter and Facebook.

3. Winning starts with beginning. Look at what your company does best, and utilize whatever that strength may be. At the same time, continue to seek new possibilities and avenues. By embracing these two strategies simultaneously, your business will thrive as you make an effort to expand and grow.
