1. Extend your company culture to your clients, not just your employees. Many companies believe that their services and/ or products are what make them unique in their space. Although that may be true for some, sometimes it can be as simple as extending the company culture to the “people who pay your bills”, i.e. your clients, and make it known that they are part of your company and help shape the direction and success of the business. This is a sure fire way to set your company apart from others within the same niche as your own.
2. Tow the line and stay the course. Although it is imperative that you as a business are nimble and adaptive, you must also take into consideration the thoughts and decisions made before that helped to shape the company into what it is today. Meaning that the mission statement of the company is something that anyone must hold great value in but be willing to tow the line at the appropriate time if you see an opportunity or a gain by doing so. Be able to recognize when it is time to pivot the company in another direction when need be.
3. Surround yourself with quality people that have already been through the growing pains of a business. Along with mentors, people who have been in the business since the very beginning will be able to cut your learning curve in half. People who have a greater knowledge and experience from within the business than yourself will almost guarantee your individual success in the company as well as the company’s success among competitors.
